What do I use ChatGPT for?

Images, and my brand voice.

Image creation is the main thing. Anything on the creative side, really.

The other job is voice. I run my drafts through ChatGPT because it does a better job of making them sound like me. It’s catching up to Claude on projects and organization too, though I still prefer Claude for business work, mostly for the strictness. Which is occasionally annoying, and mostly why I trust it.

Which feature would I miss most?

The image button.

Describing what I want and having a picture come out. That’s still wild to me, and it’s the thing I’d actually miss if it vanished tomorrow.

Who is ChatGPT for, and who should skip it?

Beginners, and anyone making pictures.

If you’re just getting started with AI, this is the more forgiving place to learn. Less friction, easier to poke at, harder to get stuck in.

You can absolutely run a business on it. I’d still pick Claude for that.

How have I used ChatGPT recently?

Claude drafts, and then I run it through ChatGPT to loosen the writing up. Claude’s first pass sounds like it put a blazer on before answering me. This is the step that takes the blazer back off.

What do I wish I had known about ChatGPT on day one?

Fill in your instructions first.

Same as Claude. Setting your global instructions saves you a pile of frustration later, and almost nobody does it.

Second one, for when you’re moving between platforms: you can take your context with you. ChatGPT will export your data from settings, and Claude has an import flow at claude.ai/import that hands you a prompt to run in ChatGPT first. Worth knowing before you rebuild years of context by hand.

How does ChatGPT fit with my other tools?

Honestly, not much these days.

Honestly, I don’t reach for it much these days. It comes out for images, and for the voice pass on something Claude drafted. Everything else has moved to Claude.

Would I pay for ChatGPT?

Yes, but you may not need to.

I’m on the $20 a month plan. You could probably get by on free unless you’re doing a lot of creative work.
